Holiday Cards: Making Last Names Plural!

It’s that time of year again! In the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, you have to create the perfect Christmas card to send to your family and friends! Avoid making this common faux pas when you’re making your Christmas card!

When making your last name plural, you don’t need to add an apostrophe! The apostrophe makes the name possessive.

For example: The Smith’s house

The last letter of your last name will determine if you add an “-s” or an “-es”. If your last name ends in -s, -z, -ch, -sh, or -x, you add -es to your last name to make it plural.

For example: Happy Holidays from the Joneses!

If you don’t like how your name looks with “-es”, you could always opt for “The Jones Family” instead of “The Joneses”.

If your name does NOT end in -s, -z, -ch, -sh, or -x, you add -s to make it plural.

For example: Merry Christmas from the Smiths!
