When to Send Out Wedding Invitations

Designing wedding invitations is one of the most exciting parts of planning a wedding (we may be a little biased 😊). It allows guests to get a sneak peek of what to expect on the big day. One of the most common questions brides have is when should the wedding invitations be sent out? Understanding the timeline for the wedding can ensure guests have enough time to make travel arrangements.

The timeline depends on where the wedding is and how far most of the guests have to travel. πŸ—Ί If you are having a local wedding with primarily local guests, your invitations don’t need to be sent out until six to eight weeks before the wedding. This allows enough time for guests to plan and RSVP. (Pro tip: Set the deadline for RSVPs a month before the wedding. Not only does this make seating arrangements less stressful, but it also allows for the inevitable late responder!). However, if you are having a destination wedding or many of your guests are from out-of-town, proper etiquette says to send out your invitations three months before the big day.
